3 point seat belts in an old car

Has anyone replace their lap belts with a 3 (or more) point system?  

I have a 73 spider with old, half-rotten, lap belts.  The NOVA show this
week on car crashes has me thinking that it might be a good idea to upgrade.

Advice or opinions appreciated.
