Milano parts, heavy steering, top repair

Milano parts -- last call....parting out an '87 Milano Silver.  The
car goes to the scrap yard this week.

Heavy steering -- The rack in my Milano started leaking a couple
months ago, but it's minor still and I can live with it.  However,
after driving the new Milano that I bought for parts I've come to the
realization that the steering in the Verde is very heavy by
comparison.  The fluid level is good (I check it often), and the belt
on the pump is tight.  Is this a symptom of a bad rack?

Top repair -- I took the hard top off the spider today for the
spring/summer.  The soft top is a vinyl one, not cloth, and is
probably pretty new since it's in excellent condition.  However, there
is a small tear at the seam where the window meets the canvas and I
want to fix it before I use the top too much.  If it was just a tear
in the canvas I would have considered a bike tire patch from the
inside but since it's at the window I'm at a loss.  What's the best
way to seal it up?
