re: water in rear-end diff.

hi robert, among other things, you asked:
>My question is how did the water get in there?...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
when i bought my gtwe6 about 4 years ago, i was able to get the owner to reduces
his selling price almost $1k on what was an otherwise quite respectable car, cuz
there was that tell-tale milky scum on the oil-filler cap: that sure sign of
water in the oil due to a leaky/blown head gasket. turns out that it was yust
condensation - the car dint get much use for at least the last six months the
prewious owner had it, and all the water was due to this - 500 miles the 1st
week i had the car, and no more milk-scum!

so, if you don't exercise your car regularly, and you park it in a cool, damp
spot, this mite be the source of your water.
