Re: TZ Replica -- The USA Version

Hello All:

Great thread! I quess I'm not the only one who has crazy TZ ideas!

Too get some more info on the Ereminas TZ replica, I thought I would go to the
source; Don Ereminas.

I e-mailed him and he e-mailed back about an hour later.

Here is a quick summary of what I found out. Don's info with my bench racing
comments in parenthesis.

The TZ replica costs $25k and the kit consists of the following:
1. Round-tube steel frame with the body attached. The frame is TIG welded and
powder coated.
2. Glass windshield and Rear Window installed. (Side Windows anyone?)
3. Blank Dash. (Spider Insturments, pre 86?, would look great here along with
some nice toggle switches from my old 73 Berlina)
4. Sliding block rear suspension. (How noisy would that be? Teflon coated?)
5. Steering rack and steering shaft.

So far, they have one running prototype with car #2 in process and the frame
started on car #3.

Sounds a bit expensive, for me anyway. I bet the minimum would be $35k to get
one
these on the road (your labor and lots of used parts). However, I suspect
the quality of the work is outstanding. My personal experience with Ereminas
has been excellent! They carry quality parts, do quality rebuilds and stand
behind the products they sell.

Of course, I want one!
Let's see...... if I sell the Ferrari......sell the house. Sure, I could
sleep in it!
