Re:DEAD MILANO

Hope that it has now been restored to life and with no further problems. If
not, did you check the obvious, which nobody mentioned - a bad alternator?
Sounds very much like it is not charging and that the battery ran down to
empty, and was not re-charged using an overnight charger. A small amount will
stay in it, or could be put into it by an alternator about to give up the
ghost, when the car was running for a short time. This might be enough to
occasionally start the car, but then on the road the battery would discharge
and go dead again. Also when the battery is near dead, not enough current is
going to the ECU (which like any computer has to be exact) so all hell breaks
loose with the lights on the dashboard, and this in turn will prevent the car
from starting.
This might also be the problem with the later postee who is having a
California lightshow in his Milano. Again check out the battery and charging
system with a VOM and clean the ground contacts. Dampness can affect them more
than cold.
