SPICA gospel and Braden Bible, disciple forgets his verses

Greetings Alfisti,and Thomas in particular,
The SPICA"set screw" I was referring to was the pump gap screw, which has
a plastic cap on it.Directly quoting the Braden Bible, pg.134,
"In the chapter on buying a used Alfa I cautioned to deduct about $1000 from
the value of an Alfa if the little plastic cap over the pump gap screw has
been removed. Everyone-well,almost everyone-who knows anything about Alfas
knows that the cap is inviolate,so you can safely leap to the conclusion that
the person who removed it had no business even opening the hood-and lord knows
what else he did,etc."
"The pump gap establishes the position of the 3 dimensional cam at closed
throttle. That is,the actual distance is most critical when the engine is
idling."
These quotes are directly out of the Braden bible, my terminology
was a bit off.(Got bit hard by the Alfetta "bug"yesterday, still babbling
incoherently too.=) Iv'e found that this book is nothing short of an
incredible source of info on Alfas.I've bought 3 Alfas using the tips and
advice in this book and still refer to it frequently.Truthfully,It's one of
the best automotive books I've ever found.
