Alternator warning light works backwards

Sure could use some troubleshooting help on this.  The alternator light i=
s on
when the car is shut off.  When the car is running it brightens when revv=
ed
up.  Disconnecting the alternator, it goes off.  Since it's on the switch=

where is it getting the current?  Battery will run down when parked unles=
s I
disconnect the cable.  Thanks for any suggestions!
