frozen clutch pedal shaft

Does anyone have any experience freeing a frozen clutch pedal shaft in a floor
mounted pedal box from a 1969 GTV?  The pedal box is still in the car and I
can't get it out without removing the shaft first.  I got the pedal arm free
of the shaft but the steel shaft is stuck in the aluminum pedal box.  WD40
isn't working - I'm thinking heat with a fire extinguisher close at hand.  Any
words of wisdom?
