Passenger cars, light trucks, diesels, police cars, motor-
cycles, etc. have been held to different standards for
decades.  I agree that all new vehicles should be subject
to a single standard.  I imagine we ALL agree on this point.

Actually Tom, I for one don't happen to agree. My feeling is that
virtually all policepeople and SUV owner's seem to place themselves on a
higher plane. Making this assumption, why not let them set an example
for the rest of us mere mortals. Let's mandate all police vehicles and
SUV's have zero emissions. And just for fun also mandate that no
electronic voice communications be allowed to egress their vehicles.
