i bought my '71 gtv (the best year!) this way. the po had actually pulled
the shell out of storage after 17 years and it was at the body shop when his
business got into trouble and he had to liquidate some stuff. i paid less
for the car (and boxes) than he had paid to the body shop for the paint. i
could have chosen my own colors, as they had only painted the door jams, but
i stuck with what they had started with (black).

as i'm doing most of the work myself, i will end up with a gtv that cost me
less than it's worth. it's not perfect, but very nice. the goal, of
course, was a fun project i could spend those cold new england evenings
working on..

the only thing to be careful of when buying box cars (hmmm, that kind of has
a ring to it) is that you get all the parts. missing trim can eat you
alive, especially on the older cars.
