Alfa 90 - brake and idle speed questions

Anyone out there offers some suggestions ..?

I have an 1985 Alfa 90 2.0 L .

It runs well and brakes well ..but ... the travel on the
brake pedal is
excessive - almost to the floor (v. disconcerting when on my
other car the pedal pressure
is almost immediate).

When the brakes apply they are v. effective.

What I have done so far ...with no improvment :
- - replaced the master cyclinder
- - purged the systen (several times)
- - checked pad thickness (less than 25% wear)
- - adjusted rear brake calipers
- - checked (visually) servo

..........ideas welcome .

The car has a Bosch Motronic system. It starts well
(mostly!) and runs
fine at speed but when hot and idling the tick-over speed
'hunts'. By this I mean
...stopped at lights - rev ~ 900 ...climb to 1100 (in say
2-3 secs) - then drop back to 900..
continues while at rest

....... more ideas welcome.

One last think - following the recent 'reluctant starting'
discussion - my 90 sometimes
is difficult to start and I am begining to think its related
to floding ..BUT .. this model
does not have a cold-start injector. Would it be a
possible solution to place a switch
in the fuel pump line to prevent gas being delivered . If
a 'flood' condition was suspected
disable the pump - crank the engine to dry(?) the plugs
..then switch on the pump again
for a fresh attempt ... comments/critisisms ??
