Pottree's citation of flogiston

Charlie Pottree was reminded of "flogiston" by the scholarly discussion of
leaking Lucas smoke tubes ("wires" in the vernacular). Good for Charlie, but I
believe it is "Phlogiston".

Dephlogisticating ("burning" in the vernacular), the process in which light
and heat are released by the escape of a visible substance which has negative
weight, was first fully explained in 1733 (if I remember correctly) in Phil.
Trans. XXXVIII, p.63, and confirmed in the 1770s by Priestley, on whose pure
research Joseph Lucas' practical applications are said to have been based.

Obligatory Alfa content? Not much, I'm afraid, especially the later cars.
Bosch systems seldom contain more than a trace of the stuff.
