Composition of Alfa Gears.

I need to get some information about the gears in alfa transmissions.

1) What is the composition of the alloy?  For example the SAE alloy number
etc.

2)How is the alloy hardened?  For example, tempering etc.


This information is for a local alfa racer that is making his own gearbox
ratios.  Top Secret Stuff.
