164 V6 3.0 that idles high.
My 164 has started idling high.
When I first start the car in the
morning the car idles a 2000rpm.
When the car warms up it idles at
1250rpm.
I have removed the temperature sensor
and measured the resistance and
everything checks out.
The car will not start if it is
disconnected. Which is correct.
I have cleaned the air flow sensor and
check the air temperature sensor.
I have checked the throttle switch for
making at idle and full load.
I have checked the butterfly in slide
the accelerator housing and that moves
freely.
I have cleaned the idle air speed motor,
sprayed the inside with WD40. I cannot
take it a part it has be staked closed.
Unless anyone else knows how to take it
a part. I would be grateful if you could
let me know.
With the air pipe disconnected from the
idle speed the car revs at 800rpm. If
not roughly.
But I think that is normal.
Does anybody else have any other ideas
or experienced the same problem ?
I am planning to but a 10K potentiometer
in place of the water temperature sensor
to see if I can alter the idle speed of
the car.
Have a great Christmas,
Robert
