Zender, Spiders and a flame

Gregory Scott writes:

You found a Zender kit for an '84 Spider? Where in the hell was it?
Overseas? In some shut down old secluded factory? Was it a bumper kit
or a spoiler kit? I have had no damn luck at all tracking down kits for
eighties Spiders-- it is a shame since they have the ugliest body parts
of any series Spider. Tacky foam spoiler and black/silver bumpers-- how
did it get past Pininfarina? Of course, many cars were into those
'fashions' back then...=20

Now Gregory you can't possibly expect to write a thread like that =
without some backlash...hence my humble and extremely biased opinion =
follows:

Anyone that would put ground effects on an eighties Spider is missing =
the point... this car's body was designed by the arguably the worlds =
best auto craftsman. I think that the nose and tail are the car's best =
attributes. The front air dam is especially pleasing and the foam =
rubber tail is unique to a car of any era... Tacky?!? The car is =
vintage eighties-50-state-version-Italian design, and is appreciated by =
many of us for exactly that reason... it has all the style and flair of =
it's brother and sister Alfa Romeos, and is the easily the most =
recognized model of the marquee (in the USA). =20

I hope you don't currently own a Spider and never acquire one, because I =
would shutter at the sight of your Zender body worked, fuzzy dice =
decorated, blown-out stereoed, bastardized masterpiece, rumbling down =
the road at me like some "Hot Rod" magazine nightmare. If she caught a =
glimpse of this, my 85' Spider Veloce would surely assume control of =
herself and drive over the nearest cliff. Upsetting me primarily =
because she has 45k original miles and I'm not done driving her yet.

<<snip>>
I think that Alfa parts dealers should sell
style upgrades for eighties cars just as a _courtesy_ for the people who
own them.
Please tell me all about your kit and how you found it. Also, I
would truly appreciate any pictures you may have of the kit and the car
it is attached to.
<<snip>>

(Sigh) The car that is attached to it??????
Greg, try your local Ford dealer. I think they're having a year-end =
blow-out on Mustangs... I'm sure you'll find they're more your style... =
and you'll have no problem finding after-market manufacturers to help =
you ruin that car... Promise me you'll never f***-up a Spider with =
that junk, that's the only courtesy this Spider owner would like to see =
extended to him.

But to each his own...

Regards,

Dave
