Milano Auto Shifter Cable Fix
9:13 AM 12/18/98
A couple of weeks ago there was a question posted to the digest about a =
new, Alfa shifter cable for the Milano auto that was not stiff enough and =
wouldn't shift right. Here is how Pat Slattery of Slattery' s Auto (he's =
not on the digest) solved this problem for a customer: He took a lenght =
of 3/8" copper tubing equal in length to the cables sheath, cut a line =
down it with a rotary cutter, then opened it up slightly, slipped the new =
shifter cable in, then crimped or zip tied it back together. The copper =
could still make the required bends and the car now shifts firmly and =
accurately.
