It took forever to wind up the windows on my 1996 GTV
in the winter cold.

Dismantled the winder gearbox, cleaned it thoroughly
inside and dried it. It was chock full of hardened grease.
Lubed it sparingly with 90 synth oil. Now it whizzes
up in no time. Wow! Pure luxury! In summer temperatures
it will probably slam shut like a guillotine. :-)

Gave the door lock mechanism the same treatment, except
lubed with spray grease. No more door slamming. Just
a gentle push, "thunk" and it's closed. Before it would
not stay shut below -10 Centigrade.
