Shape of the cam lobes

Shape of the cam lobes

In this mailing list has been lots of discussions about different available
cams and cam timing. My question now goes little further.

First some background. Cams that our cars normally have, have symmetric
lobes. It means that opening section is shaped similarly as closing
section. Some specialists have ground cams so that they can be used at
higher revs up to 7000 and even more with standard valve springs. I have
been told that the shape of these cam lobes are asymmetric so that the
valves open much faster as with standard cams, but closing is just slightly
faster or at same speed compared to them. Of course, same shaping
principals could be used to reach even higher revs with stiffer springs.

I am now interested:

What kind of accelerations and maximum speeds the valves in our standard
105 engines have?

Those who have changed hotter cams (how hot?) in their engines, could tell
if they used stiffer springs too and if not, how high revs their engine can
now take before valve float occurs (you can hear when it starts).

Thank you for any information,
Antti S.
