Alfa gift & Alfa problem

Since Shorey plugged Steve Piantieri's Boutique, I'll post his webpage
address and (correct) E-mail. No personal interest or affiliation
(although I think my name and picture are on there somewhere.)

Now the meat... HELP! Spider race car (guess who) blowing head gaskets.
We're blowing head gaskets at a great rate. They are blowing on #2 &
#3 on the intake side. Stock gasket (I think is part of the problem)
and C.R. only about a half point over stock. The head is flat (in
fact it's done it with two different heads), and everything appears
fine with liner protrusion and block. It did get pretty warm one time
it blew, but I can't find anything warped. We've checked lots of
stuff and rather than list them all here, I'll just let people throw
things at me and I'll discount or reject what I don't need (in a nice
way). If you have any experience with any phenomena or weird
problems, let me know. We race at Sebring, Thanksgiving weekend, so
don't delay. We could just change motors, but we like the way this
one runs, when we can keep coolant out of the cylinders. If we don't
find anything, we'll put it back together with a copper faced gasket
and go racing. Man, do I hate pulling a Head, trackside...

Since this may not be of interest to the average "digester", maybe you
can send mail direct to me. If we fix it with your suggestion, you
get a nice prize, (not a temporary tatoo, either) and gobs of public
accolade.

Dave Rogers, Fred "D"...if you're out there, this has Russ Ruland
scratching his head too. He suggested changing everything. Typical
factory guy! But no prize for you guys, just the satisfaction of
being right... again...

Thanks guys...
