I suggest double faced tape. Autobody supply stores sell a product just for
this and it is an industry standard on many newer cars. Cover the entire
back of the emblem with the tape and then trim it to the edge or just inside
with a razor blade(time consuming), clean the mounting surface well and fill
any factory holes with the silicone you were thinking of using. Let the
silicone skin over and stick on your emblem. Get it positioned right the
first time because it will not want to come off to be repositioned.
