I am assuming you are referring to 105/115 cars:
Yes, the fuel line that runs from the tank to the first fuel filter is large -
1/2" hose (not sure what metric equivalent is). There should be a metal "heat
shield" that slips over the hose. 1/2" hose is hard to find - last time I
went to the parts store I was told that heater hose is the same composition as
fuel hose - just has different labeling (not sure I really believe that but
they made a pretty good case for the heater hose). I compared the two side by
side, cross sections and all - they sure looked the same - I had just enough
1/2" left over from another job and decided not to use the heater hose - but
next time???
I have replaced this hose on many cars - they go to mush and leak where it
attaches to the tank. I have never had problem with the hose kinking - there
is supposed to be filter between the tank and the pump - so there are two
short (12" each) hoses with a filter in between.
