I have a friend who installed a late model chev v6 in a volts vanagon.
This engine is much cleaner than the orig and tested very clean but
was rejected by the referee because it did not have the matching chev
transmission which tells the brain what gear its running in. This guy
was soo picky that even the color of the wires was enough to reject it.
This van now cannot be registered or sold in ca. Go figure.
