RE: burning too much oil



The key here is the color of the smoke. I would say that WHITE indicates
burning coolant, and BLUEISH indicates burning residual oil at startup.
BLACK is carbon deposits, etc. I've had the black form only- it comes in a
puff right after startup, and then quickly goes away. It has also come
during hard accel. at higher rpm, indicating a rich fuel mixture (either
rich mixture or plugs are kinda dirty and not burning all fuel). The blue
form I've seen quite often in other cars, and slowly comes out after
startup, continues for a few seconds, and then goes away. However, it can
come back if you are heavy on the throttle when really cold just after
startup- you can see this in any older car that hasn't been taken care of.
Anyway, my 2 cents worth... other opinions would be great as I'm no expert...
