164 Engine Knock

My 91 164 with 32k miles has developed a strange behavior.
When the temperature of the engine goes beyond the 175F mark, and that
usually happens
while waiting at the traffic lights, the engine Knocks on acceleration and
feels totally underpowered. The knock stops once the temperature returns
back to 175F or less. I have always use premium gas 91 octane or better. Any
Ideas ?
