Re: 1971 1750 GTV Front Springs/Ride Height

There was a thread recently about GTA Jr having jacked up front ends. My
theory on this is based on something I read about Alfa raising the front
roll centre on GTAs. I think that on the early GTAs without sliding block
rear susp they raised the front roll centre to compenste for the original
high rear roll centre. The Pat Braden Alfa Romeo Giulia Bible book has
copies of homologation papers which include spacers for the front springs
(to raise the front). Would this have changed the front rollcentre? I
realise that the geometry must be changed to change the roll centre. I
vaguely remember reading that there is a roll centre couple which is a line
drawn through the front and rear roll centres.

What do the suspension experts on the digest think?

My car 1750 GTV now has Berlina 2000 fr springs which have raised the front
so it now has the despised front high look HOWEVER the turn is very good.
This has to with weight transfer as when thrown hard into a corner the front
rolls and the outside front tyre squeals a bit. Outside front is loaded up.

What is the optimum front height AND where do I measure it?

Front swaybar is std with old bushes (stuffed)
Front shocks - KONI red fully hard
No rear sway bar
Rear shocks - KONI red middle setting
LSD fitted
Rear springs Berlina 2000 2 coils cut off
