Once again, I am indebted to my fellow digesters. Thank you John and Doug
for your comments, and Gerry for explaining the discrepancies! I feel that
I have enough information to begin, which as we all know is the hardest part.
People do the strangest things in the name of performance. For example, my
first Alfa, a 78 spider I still have, came with (among many other things) a
number of emissions controls removed and running a long way too rich. But
the more I put things back towards stock, the better it ran. The best
performance I had was when I gave up trying to tune around a bad TA,
replaced it, and followed the factory SPICA setup! Oh, and maybe just a
tad more overlap on the cams.. <g> The GTV6 promises to be a similar kind
of beast.
As for the genteel discourse, suffice it to say that I am English, which
here in California at least is enough to explain any number of
eccentricities of speech. It doesn't cut any ice back home, of course.
Best regards,
Jake
