brake rebuild

I am rebuilding the rear brakes on my GTV6. The kit comes with the usual
seals plus two O-rings. Questions:
 - Where does the larger O-ring go?

I need to use some kind of sealant when I put it back together?

That larger O-ring could be the one for the hand brake lever. Tough to say
without seeing it. Also, if you separate the two halves of the caliper you
will need the two O-rings to seal it back up. You may or may not have them in
your kit. You might get lucky and be able to reuse the old ones, but unless
you have new ones to put in, I wouldn't separate it. You won't need any
sealant, but you will (most likely) need those seals.
For what it's worth, when I dug my Milano out of the junkyard, I found in
the trunk a caliper rebuild kit, but only one (generic, of unknown origin). I
went to IAP and got another for the other side, but not even the two kits
together had all the seals needed for even one caliper. I eventually ordered
kits from AR Ricambi and they were great. The kit had every O-ring in it.
It's been a while, but as I recall there should be....2 seals and 2 boots for
the pistons, 2 seals for the two halves of the caliper, 1 seal for each
adjusting screw, and 1 seal for the hand brake lever. The Ricambi kit even
had new covers for the bleed screws. If anybody's planning on rebuilding
calipers, I highly recommend the Ricambi kit. 13 bucks, you get everything.
