Something else just occurred to me. One way to diagnose this condition is
to disconnect the front shocks, and get somebody to bounce the car up and
down while you feel each suspect joint with your hand. The squeaking
joints should be vibrating. The upper A-arm inboard joint is hidden, but
you should be able to get your hand on the securing bolt. A mechanics'
stethoscope might help. Since the car is bouncing up and down, DON'T use
the screwdriver in the ear trick (DOH!).
