164 buying hints?

I'm doing my best to lead another innocent into the fold...

A colleague at work is looking for another car and after getting got bored with 
looking at Fords and Mazdas tried a few Saab 9000s, then took a V6 164 for a 
drive... and is hooked. He's not a real car nut, but both he and his wife seem 
to be really impressed by the 164.... performance, handling, looks and equipment 
are all bit of a step up from his present 250 000 km 1.8L Subaru.... The one 
they saw on the weekend sold on Sunday, but the dealer has just got another 
which they will see (and hopefully bring into work) tomorrow. This one is a 91 
V6 manual, 110 000km, leather trim.

So, what to look for: service records of course, how to check the AC stepper 
motor, seat switches... what else? Do the manual gearboxes have the same weak 
input shaft bearing as the Croma and Thema?
