Since we are sharing personal experiences on thermostats or the lack there
of....  In the mid sixties, some friends an I raced a bug eyed Sprite.  The
Competion Parts Catalogue contained, and we bought an "Outlet Blanking
Sleeve".  This little brass cylinder with hole in it replaced the
thermostat.  Its whole purpose was to slow down the coolant flow without the
complication of the thermostat. I always figured, if removing the thermostat
was all that was required to keep a hard working engine cool they wouldn't
have made the part.
