John,
You'd have to stretch the o-ring to make it fit over the liner (the liner
is notched in where the o-ring fits). If you could do it without snapping
the new o-ring, it might work. In fact, you'd only have to pull up the
liner a half-inch or so (if you can get your hand or a tool down in there
to remove the old one). You also have to be careful about getting gunk
in the area where the liner seats.
