"164 Turbo block? That would make it a V6"

I haven't been following the argument, but in AD7-102 zamani zambri writes,
Re: 155 BTCC: "164 Turbo block? That would make it a V6".

Not necessarily. The 164 2.0i turbo tipo 164 A2B, motore tipo 06476, had 4
cilindri in linea, traversale, anteriore, con turbocompressore, 84 x 88 mm,
basamento in ghisa, USW. The book says it was "the first car in Alfa Romeo
history, with the exception of the Dauphine episode of 1959, not to be powered
by an engine designed by its own engineers." Says further that it was a
derivative of the Croma/Thema engine but "deprived of its counter-rotating
balancer shafts that absorbed around 5 hp".

Says "From a technical point of view, the engine was beyond reproach, but
certain Alfa purists felt that something of the Milanese marque's essential
spirit had been lost." But that would not have necessarily inpeded its use in
a BTCC car.

If not relevant, file in the trivia cilinder.
