Re: Wet timing belt

Carlos, if the oil seems to be coming from the belt tensioner area this
is quit possible even with the mechanical tensioner. When the hydraulic
tensioner is removed two oil passages are sealed. One with a mounting
stud for the mechanical tensioner and one with a small allen screw. I
have had trouble before getting these to seal permanently. If this is
the case it's an inexpensive repair.
Your oil leak could of course also be from cam or crankshaft seals or
the head gasket itself. If you can't tell where it's coming from clean
and dry the entire area and then check again after running the car for a
bit. Maybe just leave the timing belt covers off after cleaning and run
the car enough to reproduce the leak.
