Milano pumps and alt

Is it possible to get an alt. suitable for a Milano at a generic parts 
store?  How succesful/cost effective is it to have one rebuilt?  Power 
steering pumps, can one get one from a generic parts store?  The cat. 
prices are a little on the steep side.  Thanks in advance,
