Tires & Brakes

    Nizam,
When an associate of mine was running a Milano 3.0 in
IMSA IS, the rules allowed brake modifications, but the calipers had to
fit under 16x7 wheels. The front where Wilwood "modified" style calipers
with four pistons and the rear were vented JFZ's. Equipped with Carbon
Kevlar pads the brakes were unfadeable and would stop the car easily at
any speed. In reality the brakes were over kill for the application,
because the rules required basically stock engines. In my ITS race car
with Carbon Kevlar race pads the stopping power in better than almost
anything on the track. Unless the car is putting out some serious HP and
the suspension has been modified, the stock type brakes properly
prepared should work fine.

You state that everyone says not to run the 225/50/15. I would
disagree, the 225's on a 15x7 are a perfect fit if the wheel has the
correct offset. On some Milano's a small clearancing of the inner
plastic fender liner is necessary, but if this is for track use, the
extra grip is well worth it. Also the 225 are cheaper than the 205 a
least from BFG. Good luck.
