To add to Les' suggestions of steering box and idler:

Also check where the arm attaches to the output shaft of the steering box: this 
is a tapered spline, and if the nut comes loose (which it is prone to doing), you 
will get a lot of slop here. It then wears the splines, and you can get the 
situation where the standard nut "bottoms out" on the end of the splines before 
the arm is actually tight. I.e. the nut can be tight, but the arm is loose. 
Easily checked by having someone wiggle the steering wheel while you rest a 
finger on the arm and nut: you'll feel it move if it is loose. Either get a new 
arm or modify a nut.
