Re: fan size

The larger fan will move more air the the thinner - "high performance" fan.

I recently had an old hi-pro fan (age unknown - but may have been original)
disintegrate at 5500 rpm on my 76 Spider - it took out the shroud (no real big
deal) and the brand new 3 row radiator I' d just had rebuilt! It put 4 holes
in the rad - my rad man actually was able to repair it for $20 but it isn't as
good looking as it once was - moral to this story is old plastic fan blades do
go bad (I know of two other people this happened to) replace the fan blade if
it is 13 years old!

On my '76 spider (has A/C and works!) the temp would run 195-212 with A/C
running at idle in Houston summer heat. I replaced the thermostat with a 160
degree, put in three row rad, replaced water pump and all hoses, new shroud,
new head gasket (wasn't blown) - still ran 195-212. Hi-pro fan broke -
ordered new fan (fat blade one came in the mail) - guess what - car now runs
just over 180 all the time. The fan blade made a big difference in cooling.
