Re: Hungarian Grand Prix: Scuhmacher win 3:2 flying high

< third of the race, where Ferrari called Michael in to change
< tires (2nd time) after only 19 laps. they did a marvelous job of
< fueling and tire changing in 7 seconds! Then Micahel put on a
< display of such phenomenal driving that I was in awe! The car
< seemed so light, like it could have been blown off the track had
<an errant wind cropped up at some inopportune corner. as it was,
<Michael did overdrive one corner, but did a neat job of
<recovering, losing only a second or two. At that point he was
<making up 1 1/2 seconds per lap on Mika Hakinnen, and took the
< lead when Mika pitted for tires.

That was an excellent race, Scuhmacher starting from 3rd on the
grid, with the 2 Mclarens ahead of him. He drove a superb race
getting 110% out of that Ferrari and using every inch of the track. I
f you had seen the qualifying Scuhnmcaher had the car set up q.
differently , almost like a kart with a stiff front suspension and
the car was almost too difficult to handle but for the race all that
changed. He drove flat out and not only that he did 3 pit stops
compared to McLaren's 2 pitstops and still won the race ahead of both
the Mclaren's. (Mika Hakkinnen's Mclaren did have some sort of
problem though as he was slowing down in the last few laps and was
LAPPED by Scuhmacher I think it was gearbox problem, maybe he
couldn't get top gear, so could keep going at a slower speed)
Great race, makes the championship even more exciting now only 7
point difference between Scuhmcaher and Hakinnen now!
