There is a special puller for this - which you DON'T need. You can
improvise a puller using a metal plate, a large nut or similar piece of
metal, and two bolts with the correct thread to fit the threaded holes in
the steering wheel, on my GTV the thread is the same as on the bolts that
go on the carb airbox.

Get a steel plate that's thick enough not to bend (4 mm +/-) under stress.
Drill two holes with approximately the same spacing as the two threaded
holes in the steering wheel hub - you can see these once you've removed the
centre badge etc. After removing the large nut that holds the steering
wheel, place a spacer on the top of the steering shaft. This spacer can be
just a thick nut that's thick enough to hold the plate you've made a few
mm clear of the speering wheel. Then with plate sitting on top of the
spacer, fit the two bolts into the steering wheels holes and simply keep
tightening evenly across the two, and the steering wheel will come off. If
it doesn't easily, with the bolts tight, give the plate a whack with a hammer.

Buona fortuna!

Rimutaka Hill Road (sealevel to 2000 ft) last Saturday in the GTV with the
rear stepping out really nicely!
