i have a simple procedure that i use every year or two to keep pistons from
sticking in calipers.  it's pretty simple, remove the pads, using a small
tool like a dental pick gently move aside the rubber dust seal from the
piston, and squirt in some mystery oil all around the piston edge.  then,
using two small pry bars (or one pry bar on one piston and a block to hold
the other piston from popping out), gently push the piston(s) back into the
caliper a little bit.

this annual dose of mystery oil keeps my calipers from seizing.
