Notice that there is really very little to see of the Duetto.  Possibly
one's memory of the wonderful machine is greater than the film time given
it.

Notice in particular that while the camera sometimes focuses on the
supposed Duetto driver's hand, that hand never shifts the transmission.
Mike Nichols may have been a radical film maker for his time - old dialogue
overlapping new scenes for example - but I doubt if he had any
understanding or empathy for sports cars or insight into the story he could
have told via images of feet, hands, and the sounds of exhaust and tires.
