Correcting myself

I apologize for confusing the indefatigable John Hertzmann with the
dates of my alloy wheels, date-coded 1971 and 1974.

They're *not* original to this car -- in fact, they're the Stil-Auto MI
(or could it be M1?) style used on the Zagato Junior Z. For those
without Web browsers, these wheels are reminiscent of the traditional
Spider five-spoked star wheels, but they are six-spokers. Very cool,
but very non-original for a 1967 GT Junior. For the record, the VIN is
1208507, if that helps decode the actual construction date, which does
appear to be sometime before the 1242302 VIN for the earliest 1970 cars
in Fusi's list, or the 1246009 VIN for d'Amico-Tabucchi.

Full details, including photographs, links, and everything except 27 8 x
10 color glossies with arrows and numbers on the back, can be found at:

Both the step-nose and the wheels are clearly visible in this picture.
So, for that matter, is the front bumper, which is also known to be
incorrect, so please don't go restoring *your* car based on the shape of
the bumper on *this* one.

And while we're on the subject of non-original parts... this car also
came with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, with Hellebore on the right-hand
spoke of three, made of polished aluminum, with a series of graduated
holes drilled in them. This appears to be a very close reproduction of
a GTA wheel -- at one time I thought it was the same, but later
inspection of the GTA wheel indicates that it has one more hole drilled
in the spokes than this Hellebore wheel does. Still, it's pretty slick,
and like the road wheels appears to be a "period modification," as they
say. I will probably one day have the wood restored (it creaks and
cracks and has been repaired, none too well, in spots) and put it back
on the car. In the meanwhile, it graces a wall in my home.
