Re: Suspending a GTV-6 on the Jack Points

Someone asked in a recent post (I've lost it now) if
it would be OK to suspend a GTV-6 on all four jack
points (i.e. would it damage the car). I've had mine
suspended just this way while I've been working on the
T/A . Car seemed nice and safe this way but I did notice
that the top front edge of the window frame on the dri-
ver's door just touched the roof drip moulding when I
opened the door. Also the back of the door seemed to pop
up slightly as soon as it was unlatched. This indicated
to me that the weight of the engine was, perhaps, pulling
down the cantilevered front end of the car. So I decided
to move my front jack stands from under the jack points
to under the front A-arms. I cut a couple of 7" X 2 1/2"
X 3/4" plywood strips and placed these on top of jack
stands as far out under the front A-arms as possible
(plywood longitudinally, top of the jack stand trans-
versely). I left the back stands where they were. Now
my doors open and close as they should. I'm sure no damage
was done as the chassis normally twists and flexes to some
degree while cornering hard or over rough road, but I
feel better having it suspened this way.

Cheers,

Greg Connolly.
