Miata seats...Japanese driving position?

Installing a Japanese driving position into an Alfa Spider might be a
little disconcerting...

As a former and future Alfa Spider owner and current Miata owner, I have
one caution about the idea of putting Miata seats into an Alfa. Driving
position. Its probably due to much more than just the seat in my Miata,
but the driving position feels all wrong. My butt is too far from the
pavement, and more importantly, the relative heights of my feet (on pedals)
and butt are far from Italian.

While I must agree with many of the generalizations about Miata drivers, I
still can't knock the car. I've had mine for 7 years of maintenance-free
fun. Unlike those generalizations, you will rarely see me driving my Miata
with the top on. I very frequently have the top down even during winter
(Colorado and Oklahoma). It's true, I do use the AC from time to time in
the summer, but only with the top down. While I really like my Miata, I
have never developed the emotional attachment to it that I had for my 73
Spider, and the Spider rarely ran properly for me. I plan to have another
Spider within the next year, but I'll keep the Miata too.
