gtv serial number 3024564

In AD7-024 Bob Brady asks "John Hertzman wrote the following series for '74
gtvs: "1974, from 3023001 to 3023900"  John, are you sure these are correct?
My "built in July '74" gtv is serial number: 3024564."

No, I am NOT sure they are correct, and, grin, I didn't say anything to
suggest that I thought they were. What I said was "According to d'A-T
(d'Amico-Tabucchi) the 2000 GT Veloce destinata agli U.S.A. for 1972 were
numbered from 3020001 to 3020951 and from 3021501 to 3021717; for 1973, from
3021718 to 3022800; for 1974, from 3023001 to 3023900; and for 1975 from
3025901 to 3027089." That IS what d'Amico-Tabucchi says about USA serial
numbers in the "Numerazione dei telai e dei motori" table for the 2000 GTV on
page 673. (All of the non-USA 2000 GTVs in that table have numbers beginning
with 24). IF d'A-T is correct, Bob's car does not exist. If Bob's serial
number is correct, then the d'A-T table is incorrect. John takes no position
on the question. I hope, for Bob's sake, that he has not been pouring all that
love, money, work and worry into a figment of his fertile imagination.
