Law enforcement, by air or land

Re: speeding tix, traps, timing, etc., I would like to ad: Why speed in the
first place? Not to be a total weenie; think about it...

In doing so, you're effectively playing in someone else's (The donut crowd)
market. Consider the probabilities. Why help them pick you off?

Since I rarely exceed 110% of the posted limit, there's been little to worry
about. In the 27 yrs. I've been driving the Interstates (23 since I got my
driver's license), I've yet to be ticketed. I contend that average speed, not
peak can be more important. For example, a la 'The Tortoise and The Hare', I
once drove (solo!) from San Francisco to Chicago (when 55mph was national)
straight through in 44 hours flat. Total time. Details: '84 BMW 325e; SF-
CGO; 2,264mi; 44hrs; avg. speed, incl. pitstops, 51.45mph; avg. mpg., 37.67.
It was kinda amusing to see the same motorists (several) who whizzed past me;
only to be later either pulled over, or having to pass me again because of
their more frequent refueling stops.

Relax, sit back, and enjoy the amphetamines ;-).

Instead of being anxious about being caught speeding, save your mental
composure for something really important like avoiding kamikazi deer, who,
presumably, want to get out of God-forsaken Nebraska even more than you do.

Nonetheless, I agree that triple-digit velocities along I-90 in Montana is
alot of fun. But, sadly, opportunities such as that are few. What to do?

Here's what I do: Find a nice curvey mountain and/or coastal road (California
has many!), and try to average 200+% of the posted limit. Your and your car's
capacities will be properly entertained/challenged. You won't see many cops
because it's not a productive use of their time--they're too busy collecting
the easy money on the Interstates.

Time is money, to be sure. But so are tickets, lawyers, insurance premiums,
and the additional gasoline (w/ State & Federal excise taxes) from poorer mpg.
Not to mention the noncash expense of the time spent appreciating our legal
system.

So, drive your car where, and in the manner it was meant to be driven. For
all other occasions, plan ahead; get an early start; and maintain the highest
reasonable average speed.

The next time you see one of those least-common-denomiator-mentality types
being pulled over, ask yourself: How would their ride fare on my favorite
twisty?
They don't have many alternatives. You do.

Thanks for your time.
