Cracked Bellhousing

For what it's worth, when I took apart my '74 gtv a couple of months ago, I 
noticed that the dpo had NOT installed the correct shoulder bolt on the 
starter (among many other sins).  I drove it in this condition for 20k+ miles 
with no cracks.  I guess I got lucky.  

BTW, it had the larger starter installed (1.1 hp vs. 0.7 ?) or something like 
that.
