for the 2 liter, the '72 - '74 model years were the lightest, the '72 being
marginally lighter due to having very little in the way of a bumper
subframe.  those model years also delivered the most hp.  somewhere along
the line they added structure (and weight) to the doors as well.

post '74 there's no comparison, the bumpers became very heavy, and the
motors became more anemic, most of which can be addressed with lightweight
replica bumpers and engine modifications.

i didn't pay much attention into the 80's, other than to know that there's
not a lot of information or performance parts which are readily available
for the bosch cars.
