I recall very fondly the Morris 1100 which I imported from UK via
Nuffield Exports and BMC in '63. Not only did it have a tansverse
engine layout, but the tranny shared the engine oil !! Also it had the
damndest "hydroelastic" suspention..which essentially took bumps not
unlike a pogo stick. Fitted ultimately with a 1275cc mini-Cooper
oversquare 4-banger, that car flew...er jumped.
