Limited Slip Diffs

     Alfisti,
To the best of my knowledge all 2.0 Liter USA 115 series Spiders 1972 on were
built with limited slip diffs as were '72,'73,'74 GTVs and Berlinas.'72 to '79
US Spiders had the 4.56 to 1 ratio as well as the '72,'73,'74 GTVs and
Berlinas. Some may argue some GTVs came with the 4.10 LSD but I've never
encountered any in a US GTV.1980 on US Spiders came with the 4.10 LSD for
better fuel economy and less emissions.
Here are a few ways identify a 115 series LSD.
  1) The wheel studs on the axles are 10mm or so longer than the earlier 105
series open diffs and all studs have Right-Hand-Threads.The 115 axles are much
beefier also.
  2) The sump/lower cover/oil pan on the bottom of the diff held on with 8
bolts on the105 series open diffs is rectangular in shape. The LSD diff is the
same with a bump on the front right under the driveshaft flange.

                      Ach.....hope this helps,
                        Mike Besic
